Extra Curricular Activities
We offer a wide range of extra curricular activities for pupils as part of their wider education. Sports, Music and the Creative Arts are particular strengths of the school.
Children at Mobberley have many opportunities to represent the school at netball, football, athletics, rounders, tennis, cricket, golf, etc. We are fully committed to encouraging all pupils to take part in physical activities and we participate in a year round ‘inclusive’ set of competitive events so that pupils with specific needs also get the opportunity to represent the school. The pupils in Year 4 swim as part of their curriculum studies. The school has achieved the ‘GOLD’ standard for outstanding sporting provision for the last three years.
We have a very popular and successful choir comprised of pupils from Years 4, 5 and 6. The choir has performed at a number of venues both large and small over the course of the year (Manchester Arena, Handforth Dean Shopping Centre, School Christmas Fair, Local Care Homes, etc.) and they provide the vibrant, soundtrack to school life.
All pupils at Mobberley have the opportunity to learn at least one musical instrument. We start with the basic recorder and then pupils have the opportunity to learn piano, drumming, guitar, brass, woodwind and percussion instruments. In addition to our own musical staff, we use visiting peripatetic tutors to ensure pupils are guided by high quality and knowledgeable staff.
Many pupils enjoy the after school Art clubs where they can use a range of media to create large scale artistic creations. Recent 3D projects have included the large whole school prayer tree, papier mache reading books, and the ‘faceless angel’ (used in a recent art exhibition in Manchester Cathedral.)
In addition, there are weekly after-school clubs in ICT Coding, Science, Young Voices, Hockey, Gardening and Multi-Sports.
Lunchtime clubs include Maths club (logic games) and Archery.
Before school we also run popular clubs in Ballet and Tap Dancing in the school hall from 8am.
