Pastoral Care
Our pastoral care has been developed carefully in keeping with the individual needs of the children as they progress through the school. As a Church of England school, we work within a Christian ethos and a caring and supportive environment.
Examples of specific initiatives in place at school include:
ELSA – (Emotional Language Support Assistants): Mrs Knowles and Mrs Ashworth – ELSA helps our school to support the emotional needs of identified pupils – children and young people learn best when they feel happier and their emotional needs are being addressed
Wellbeing club led by Mrs Bentzien (SENCO/Mental Health lead)
A buddy system -all new pupils in Reception have a buddy in class 6 who will look out for them and help them settle in a school
Year 5 and Year 1 have reading buddies
Year 4 and Year 2 have reading buddies
Circle time – structured times to sit with class mates and talk about feelings and experiences
School assemblies, led by the headteacher, deputy head and Father Ian Blay from St Wilfrid’s Church
Rewards for good behaviour which include showing kindness and consideration to others
Access for parents at all times to the headteacher to address any concerns
